Una brutta notizia dalla galassia SMWS:
chiude (forzatamente) il branch olandese.
.

Dear Members,
Very much to our regret, the current owners of The Scotch Malt Whisky Society in Scotland have informed us that they no longer require our services. Our franchise branch of The Society for the Benelux and Germany have, with extremely short notice, terminated our contract to promote and sell whiskies on their behalf. As you may know, The Society in Scotland was bought over in March 2015 by a group of businessmen with an aim to maximising profit on their investment.
After 22 years of passionate and dedicated effort, we are required to stop trading as a branch of The Society as of 16th August 2016. This is also the case for our hard working business partners throughout Germany, Belgium and The Netherlands.
Needless to say, we are deeply shocked and extremely disappointed at this decision. We have always worked with great enthusiasm and pleasure on behalf of you, our members. We have striven to maintain as much personal contact with all of you as was possible in a serious attempt to maintain the true “club” feeling of our branch of The Society. This is now being taken away from us.
Putting our emotions aside, it is the intention of The Scotch Malt Whisky Society to continue trading in the form of an E-commerce application directly from Scotland. What exactly this will mean for the continuation of your individual membership status has still to be established. In any case, this aspect is now under discussion and negotiation through our legal representatives in Scotland. At the conclusion of these negotiations, either we or The Society shall inform you of your membership status and as to how contact with you will be continued. In any case, we shall endeavour to present and protect the best interests of each of our members for the future.
In the meantime, it’s business as usual. Later this month we shall issue our very last bottling list offer including all of the newly delivered selection of whiskies and many old favourites. Please note that this list will only be only available in digital form and not as a printed document.
Once again, we are bitterly disappointed with this development and the way in which we feel that we are being cast aside so harshly after 22 years of dedication.
We shall keep you informed of further developments.
Good luck and goodbye.
