Di tutto un po': per riflettere sul mondo del whisky (e non solo), ma anche per ridere

"Some of Diageo’s Special Releases have leaked. There will be a 2nd release of a Clynelish NAS, much like the Clynelish Select Reserve from last year. Of course there will also be a new Port Ellen and a new Brora, 32 years and 37 years in age respectively. Below is the complete list, but first a short explanation of where this information is coming from.
The official press release usually arrives somewhere in September, but luckily the American Alcohol & Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau has a public registry, in which they publish whisky labels that have been approved by them. Sku from Sku’s Recent Eats has been publishing interesting new releases from this database for years. He always posts a disclaimer, which I’ll reiterate here. It is important to keep in mind that the fact that a label appears on the TTB database does not necessarily mean it will be produced. In addition, some details on the label, such as proof, can change in the final product.
So now, without further ado, here are some of Diageo’s Special Releases for 2015.
Brora 37yo 14th Release
Caol Ila 17yo Unpeated Style
Clynelish NAS 2nd Release 2015
Dalwhinnie 25yo Limited Release
Lagavulin 12yo Cask Strength
Port Ellen 32yo 15th Release
This is really all the info there is. Most likely Diageo will announce a few other releases as well. For now, you’ll have to make do with this list. Let the speculating about the prices begin! :)"

Yes, it’s that time of the year again. Based on some label designs that were recently approved by the American Alcohol & Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (search for vendor code 14617 here), we already know what will come out of Diageo’s Special Releases hat shortly. At least we know six of the most important expressions.

Diageo Special Releases for 2015:
Brora 37 Year Old (50,4%, OB 2015, 2078 btl.)
Caol Ila 17 Year Old 1997 “unpeated style” (55,9%, OB 2015, ex-bourbon barrels)
Clynelish Select Reserve (56,1%, OB 2015, 2946 btl.)
Dalwhinnie 25 Year Old 1989 (48,8%, OB 2015, refill hogsheads, 5916 btl.)
Lagavulin 12 Year Old (OB 2015)
Port Ellen 32 Year Old 1983 (53,9%, OB 2015, 15th annual release, 2964 btl.)
That means a new Brora distilled in 1977/1978 (probably both as there doesn’t seem to be a mention of a vintage).
Also the first Port Ellen annual release that wasn’t distilled in 1978 or 1979, but in 1983, the last year of production. Does this mean the 1970’s stocks are completely gone, or are they saving some casks for a truly special release, let’s say in 2018?
Clynelish gets a new NAS expression (called Select Reserve like last year) “crafted for taste from hand selected casks”.
The only expression we couldn’t really predict is probably the Dalwhinnie 25yo 1989.

We expect there to be more news about the Diageo Special Releases 2015 in the upcoming weeks (price details, probably more releases as well). We’ll update this post if necessary.
