On the Night
Please plan to arrive at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Via K. Adenauer 3, San Donato Milanese on Saturday, 30th November between 7.20 and 8.00pm so that we can have a drink, sit down for dinner at 8.10pm and finish at 10.15pm, leaving us plenty time (at least 2 hours) for Scottish Country Dancing to live music played by Michael Philip, Scottish champion accordion player, accompanied by Paul Clancy on keyboards.
We are in the Sala Volta, down to the left of the main hall. There will be cloakroom facilities in the room itself, but without an attendant.
If you come by car, follow signs to San Donato/Crowne Plaza - there is plenty of free parking space. If you come by taxi and want to book the return trip, the evening will end around 1am. The yellow line of the metro (MM3) comes to San Donato. The station is a 15 minute walk from the hotel which runs a courtesy bus service, but check the times.

Dress
St Andrew’s Night is a chance to get dressed up, so please be as elegant as possible (Highland dress/black tie, if you have it, minimum a dark suit and tie; evening dresses for the ladies, bearing in mind leg room to dance). If you come in high heels, consider bringing another pair of shoes for the dancing.

Seating
We will prepare a seating plan for those in preconstituted groups, so please let me know if you are already planning to sit together. If possible, try to make up tables of 10. Others will be allocated to a suitable table.

Probable menu
Scottish hot and cold smoked salmon
Salmone scozzese affumicato al caldo e al freddo
Cockaleekie soup
Zuppa di pollo e porri

Roast lamb with vegetables
Arrosto di agnello con contorno

Chocolate mousse with fruits of the forest
Mousse di cioccolato con frutti di bosco

Coffee and whisky
Caffè e whisky

White/red wine and mineral water
Vino bianco/rosso e acqua minerale

We hope this is a menu that will keep everyone happy (the quality of the food at the Crown Plaza is excellent). But if you or people in your group have particular dietary needs (vegetarians, celiacs, etc.), you must let me know before the night as it will not be easy to cope with last minute changes of menu. Vegans and others with a limited choice of diet should also suggest what they would prefer to eat.

Hotel
We have negotiated a special rate for anyone wishing to stay the night: € 110 B&B for a double room (€95 if used as a single). Considering that the Crowne Plaza is a four-star luxury hotel, this is a good price. If you want to book, call 0251600600 or send an e-mail to Elisa.Brizzi@alliancealberghi.com and ask for the special rate for St Andrew’s Night 24 November 2011. Note that you can get a slightly better price than this by booking through the Crowne Plaza website, but note that these prices are prepaid and non-refundable and the cheapest refundable price (€85) does not include breakfast (€10).

Scottish Country Dancing
If you want to learn or brush up on your Scottish Country Dancing, we still have lessons every Monday through to 25 November at All Saints Church, Via Solferino 17, Milan from 9-11.00pm. You will enjoy the evening far more if you know the steps. Participants make a small donation to the church.
